At the heart of every Camphill community is a celebration of a wide range of festivals throughout the year.
In this section you will find information about each festival, with recent updates to keep you informed of what's happening here at Corbenic.

Palm Sunday Celebrations.
Palm Sunday is a Christian feast that falls on the Sunday before Easter. The feast commemorates Jesus' triumphal entry into Jerusalem, an event mentioned in each of the four gospels.
The entire community gathered with crosses decorated with bread in the shape of a rooster, a tradition that comes from Saxon regions of the Netherlands to walk the boundary of Corbenic.

Easter Monday Outing
Easter Monday in the Western Christian Liturgical calendar is the second day of Eastertide, sometimes referred to as 'Bright Monday. To celebrate this special time, there was a trip to Tentsmuir beach in north east Fife. It was a great day out; paddling, splashing, bonding and laughing which were all done against the atmospheric skies and the sound of waves crashing on the shore. By all accounts, it was a very 'bright' Monday!

Candlemas, also known as the Feast of the Purification of the Blessed Virgin Mary, is a Christian holiday commemorating the presentation of Jesus at the Temple. It falls on February 2, which is traditionally the 40th day of the Christmas-Epiphany season. While it is customary for Christians in some countries to remove their Christmas decorations on Twelfth Night (Epiphany Eve), those in other Christian countries historically remove them on Candlemas.
The community gathered on a wet and windy afternoon to pour melted wax into holes in preparation for the lighting of the candles later on that day. The forecast was looking good for the 5pm ceremony and true to form, the rain had abaited leaving moody skies. It was a perfect backdrop for the flickering flames set amongst the blooming heather and mossy stones. It was noted that one flame, seen from Lindisfarne was still burning the next day.
19 February 2017
Balloons, hearts, amazing cakes and cupcakes were laid out to set the scene for the celebration in the hall today. The whole community gathered with an air of expectancy and warmth to join in singing 'love' and 'friendship' songs lead by Karin, Claire and a band of merry musicians. From the volunteers to Steven and Ghislaine who sang a duet, there was a willingness to get involved.
After everyone had their fill of the beautifully decorated sweet treats, the lights were dimmed for a showing of the romanic comedy 'Me Before You'. The perfect end to a 'lovely' day.

To end the celebrations on Shrove Tuesday, there was a Jungle themed Carnvial held in the main hall. Lions, tigers, bears and monkeys were amongst some of the creative fancy dress costumes.
Faces were painted, tails were attached and with a beautifully hand painted back drop, the scene was set for a 'rip-roaring' time!
28 February 2017
The whole community turned out to celebrate Shrove Tuesday with the annual pancake race. The pictures below are a great indicator of how much fun everyone had racing up the hill in front of Drumhor Lodge.
25 January 2017
The hall looked beautiful with the tables laid out, candles trimmed with tartan and the walls drapped in tartan fabric. Everyone filtered in, taking their seats ready for the celebrations to begin.
The sound of bagpipes coming up the hall was hauntingly atmospheric, and a proud Ewan followed behind carrying the signature 'haggis'.
Martin, master of ceremonies, opened the evening with a Burn's poem delivered in his best thick Scottish accent. We sang songs and feasted on haggis, neeps n tatties washed down with Iron Bru, in true Scottish keeping. (Would Mr Burn's approve!)
The evening was topped of with an amazing homemade Cranachan and a cheery rendition of Auld Lang Syne, sang hand in hand with our neighbor. It was a pleasure to observe this wonderful tribute to one of Scotland's great poets. If Mr Burn's were alive today, he'd have been a proud man.

This was followed by a harvest meal altogether in the evening.
Everyone joining together to harvest fruit and vegetables.

New Lanark Conference
This year saw the 7th Bi-annual New Lanark Conference. The theme for the conference was Community Building and Social Renewal, Shaping our World through Self Expression. 20 people from Corbenic attended. This was a great opportunity for some who have been before to reconnect with old friends and also for those who have never been to meet people from other Camphills.
21–27 March 2016
Corbenic's Holy week celebration starts the week running up to Good Friday. This week is always marked with a different Tableau Vivant everyday.
28 March 2016
Every year the whole community goes out together for the annual Easter Monday outing. Normally this would be to the beach. However, this year we decided to go to the park in Crieff.
Even though it was a little bit chilly, it was lovely and dry and everyone could enjoy their picnic and games in this beautiful park.
