Michaelmas Harvesting

Michaelmas Day, traditionally celebrated on 29th September, is the feast of Saint Michael the Archangel, the angel who hurled Lucifer down from heaven. It used to be said that harvest had to be completed by Michaelmas, a marking of the end of the productive season and the beginning of the new cycle. It is also an indication of darker nights and colder days - a time when defences need to be strengthened.

Here at Corbenic, as per tradition, we will be fortifying ourselves with a hearty meal on Friday using the fruits and vegetables harvested yesterday by the community. What a beautiful array of colourful produce, all grown here!
