Corbenic Music Sessions
Residents at Corbenic love music, whether it be singing seasonal festive songs, creating magical rhythms or gentle lulling lullabies. Twice a month, Claire Hewitt, Storyteller and Musician, runs small group therapeutic music sessions in our Hall.
These sessions focus on helping to develop active listening and concentration. They are also wonderful in creating a circle where all individuals have a part to share in the creating of group music together, be it with their voices or simple percussion instruments. Also the co-workers who support the residents in a session are inspired to use their own musical skills in developing different ways of building communication bridges in sound, song and rhythm.
Over the years we have supported Grass Roots theatre company from Zimbabwe, performed at Birnam Arts and other venues across Perthshire, delighting our audiences with our percussive skills and beautiful renditions of traditional Scottish folk songs. The Music Group are also supporting a wonderful Sensory Story and Music project with Dundee based charity PAMIS and Tayberry Enterprise. We also love to create new songs for special events here at Corbenic such as the opening of our craft studio and latterly the new houses Ossian and Fingal.
Music brings us together as a community and helps us celebrate the cycles of life and living in this beautiful part of the world, Highland Perthshire.
